Following my mom's death in January 1999 I spent some time in her house helping to sort through her lifetime collection of those things she treasured. Among them was a little (3 x 5 inch) blue line ruled, legal-pad yellow note pad. I clearly remember that pad looked "old" to me when I first saw it in the early 1950's. She told me once that she began collecting her recipes long before she was married.
The recipes are listed on the FAQ16 page in the order in which they appear in the pad. And, though the first are of unknown age, all of those from "Lu Dona's Ice Box Rolls" and down had to be written after about 1948, when she first met Lu Dona.
